More information

A drawing in the Kroller-Müller Museum (KM 107.429) is a portrait by Robertson of Adolphe Boutard, who was born in Sumatra to an enslaved family, and served as model to various artists of the Pulchri Studio. This drawing may also show Boutard, dressed in a long "exoticising" white robe, modelling for Robertson in her studio. Robertson drew Boutard several times. Another possible depiction of the same sitter, also wearing a white hooded robe, was with Hein Klaver in 2022.
