  • Erin Downey asked

Hello, I would like to include this image in an essay that will be published later this year. I am not sure how to obtain a copy of the image and the cost of obtaining permission to reproduce it. Thank you! -Erin Downey

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Hi Erin, please contact my colleague at images@boijmans.nl. She will send you the hi res file for free and there is no copy right since the artist died longer than 70 years ago. You are, however, obliged to mention the museum and the photographer. My colleague will tell you how. Kind regards, Els

More information

This drawing is part of a series of five sheets (inv. nos. MB 289-293) on which a total of 26 members of the Bentvueghels are portrayed. The Bentvueghels was a brotherhood of artists from the Northern and Southern Netherlands who united in Rome.

The portraits date from around 1623, the time when the group was founded. Both their own names and the nickname they were given when they joined are written on the sheet. The portraits were perhaps made after the founding meeting.
