More information

According to the caption, the Florentine artist Ferretti drew this portrait of
Fra Bartolommeo after his self-portrait in the ‘Pala del Gran Consiglio’
altarpiece (Florence, Museo di San Marco). It is actually a drawing of a painted portrait, a framed
oval painting surrounded by various attributes: a painter’s palette with
brushes, a drawing pen and pair of compasses, a large drapery, drawings
and a laurel wreath. The drawing was produced as the frontispiece for
Gabburri’s Album M. [text: Albert Elen]
