Giacomo was the son of the famous artist Francesco Guardi. After his father’s death he continued for several decades to paint scenes
of Venice in the style of his father, but not to the same high artistic level. Most of his drawings are small. Here we look south over the Piazzetta, with the Doge’s Palace on the left and the Biblioteca Marciana on the right, in the direction of the Bacino with island of San Giorgio Maggiore at the left in the background.
