More information

Through his innovative prints Mantegna’s inventions gained a wide
dissemination. Christ is represented in the same way Fra Bartolommeo
depicted him forty years later as Salvator Mundi (Christ the Saviour):
seen from below full-length, the right hand held up blessing and a
long staff with a banner of the cross in the left hand (cat. 12A). Fra
Bartolommeo, however, put Christ on a dais. The two saints can be
recognised by their attributes.
