Everything in this painting is exactly the opposite to what Piet Mondriaan - to whom Blotkamp refers in the title - would have done. Instead of straight lines, Blotkamp uses half-rounded contours, and drab colours instead of primary red, yellow and blue. Carel Blotkamp is an artist, but also a professor in modern art history. The artist in him appropriates the artistic styles that he studies as art historian.
