How new and surprising everyday things can be. Out of a painted illusion of reality - a space full of grey planes which steadily become more markedly black and white and which we call tiles - emerges with a logic of its own, a tangible object, a wooden chest. The surprise comes when we realize that the strict perspective of the painting is maintained in the concrete form of the object.
