More information

Raimondi was one of the leading engravers of the Renaissance. He is
best known as the pioneer of print reproductions. Around 1510 he moved
to Rome, where he worked closely with Raphael to translate much of his
designs into skilful engravings. These prints contributed to Raphael’s
reputation. Considering the similarities with his ‘Carondelet Madonna’,
Fra Bartolommeo must have been familiar with this print.
