Ask anything

  • Cheer asked

Why does this look so similar to one of Mondrian's works?

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

    Hi Cheer,

There's indeed a relationship between the works. The work by Martin Assig also displays 'PM', Mondrian's signature. The work is most likely a tribute to Mondrian as an artist. The german lettering on the sides also indicate this, which translates into "You carried the whole world".

    Best,
    Gianni
