More information

This sheet is the pendant to the print of Heyne. In the text Gall replies to his 'cousin'. He confirms that he will remain loyal to Switzerland and will only serve other lords if they wage war in an honourable manner. The reality was often very different. Moving from one battlefield to the next, the lansquenets roamed all over Europe, hiring themselves out to various rulers, particularly during the Italian Wars between the Habsburgs and France.
