The 'Schilderbent' in Rome

Ask anything

  • Eva J. Allen asked

kindly tell me if there are drawings in the Museum that depict the original members of the Schildersbent? How can I call it up and look at it? I do not believe it is the Matthijs Pool illustration!

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Eva, Apology for the delay in answering your question. There has been some miscommunication about it between my department and the expert. The museum does keep an interesting series of portraits of the members of the Schildersbent, the so called “Bentvueghels”. See inv. MB 289-293: https://www.boijmans.nl/en/collection/artworks?query=bentvueghels.
I hope this answer is useful. Kind regards, Els
