While the images of low horizons and swaying grass call to mind seventeenth-century Dutch landscape paintings, Doing & Pope present an artificial world of industrialisation. The grainy film and abrupt editing, which resembles Russian Constructivist films of the 1920s, presents a row of wind turbines as well-oiled machines. The footage was shot in the artificial landscape or Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte harbour area.
