In April 1980 Joseph Beuys held a public discussion in this museum. In this film he talks about his work with the Dutch artist Peter Struycken. A year later he entered into a dialogue with art students in Rotterdam. Beuys saw teaching and debating as an essential component of his work. From 1961 until 1972 he taught a new generation of German artists at the art school in Düsseldorf, making him a key figure in visual art after 1945.
