Christo

Gabrovo 1935 - New York 2020

Christo Javacheff was born in Bulgaria and initially worked as a portrait artist, but later specialised in 'environmental art': work in which the whole environment became part of the work. In 1958 he started his 'empaquetage': packing objects, people and often even complete buildings such as the Reichstag in Berlin (1986 and 1995) and the Pont Neuf in Paris (1985).
