Richard Serra started his career as sculptor with works in rubber and neon, molten lead sculptures, film and video. Since 1970 he has produced large geometric works using industrial steel plates. With these monumental steel plates, he influences the experience of the area and defies the meaning of gravity. His work is often classed as Minimal Art and Land Art.
