Bruce Nauman initially studied mathematics at the university of Wisconsin, before studying art at the university of California. In 1965, Nauman stopped painting and concentrated instead on sculpture, performances and film.
In these films and performances, Nauman generally plays the lead. The subject is often an action or activity undertaken by the artist in his studio. Nauman also produced countless works using neon tubes.
