Boijmans in Transit

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen begins its programme of large-scale renovation and renewal in 2019. While the work is being carried out, part of the museum’s famous collection will continue to be seen in and around Rotterdam – in school classrooms and from 2021 onwards in Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen. The collection will also be travelling to some of the world’s top museums.

Boijmans Abroad

‘Boijmans Abroad’ is one of the spearheads to keep the collection visible during the museum’s large-scale renovation and modernisation programme. ‘Boijmans Abroad’ ensures that people in different continents can acquaint themselves with the city of Rotterdam’s art collection.
Boijmans Next Door

2019 saw the start of a series of exhibitions at our neigbours in Rotterdam and Schiedam. Boijmans Next Door involved a great collaborative effort between Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and eight neighbouring museums and institutions in Rotterdam.
The History of the Museum in a Nutshell

Like many of the oldest museums in the Netherlands, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen had its origins in the bequest of a private individual. In 1820, however, Frans Jacob Otto Boijmans planned to give his collection to Utrecht City Council.
