The museum's mission

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is a museum with international collections of art and design from 1400 to the present day. This profile makes the museum unique in the Netherlands. It manages and maintains this unusual collection.

Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen (opening in 2020) will show the public how professionally it looks after its own collection and those of private individuals. The museum presents the collection and stages exhibitions in the belief that art links the present, past and future. The museum aims to reach a wide cross-section of the public of all ages, at all levels of education, locally, nationally and internationally. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is a place where borders in time, space and origin dissolve. High-profile exhibitions, amazing purchases and an extensive and varied educational programme are designed to move, affect, enrich and inspire everyone.
