The New Collection

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen exhibited a selection of works from the contemporary art collection. These were works by artists like Adam Colton and Emo Verkerk, whose careers the museum has been following with great interest for many years, and purchases from artists such as Berend Strik and Klaas Kloosterboer.

These purchases were also shown in combination with works that the museum has on long-term loan from private individuals. This presentation illustrated the purchasing decisions of the past and outlined the future direction of the collection. In some cases, the display included items from the collection alongside loans from the artists or from their galleries that give an idea of their current work. This is a way for the museum to consider future purchases for the collection in public against the background of previous choices. Subsequent presentations of works in the collection will feature ensembles by Robert Gober, Daan van Golden, Sarah Lucas, Helena van der Kraan, Maria Roosen, Sharon Lockhart and others.
