With your support, we can make Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen more than a great building that houses a fantastic collection. Much more. Imagine being able to adopt a piece of Rotterdam and be part of a new icon in the city.
Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is a world first: the first depot accessible to the public that offers access to a complete collection. The dynamics of the depot are different from those of the museum: no exhibitions are made here, but you can - independently or with a guide - browse between 151,000 art objects. You can also see conservation and restoration. The exterior of Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is becoming a defining image for the city: shrouded in mirrors from head to toe in which the entire skyline of Rotterdam is visible. This façade with double-curved mirrors is unique.
We have fantastic plans to make the interior of the building as spectacular as the mirrored exterior. Consider, for example, making possible the four restoration studios, a small movie theater or a free roof terrace for everyone. Imagine that you can pinpoint exactly which mirror is yours. Adopt one of the 1,664 mirror panels and help build the new icon of Rotterdam.
How does it work?
Choose one of the 1,664 unique mirror panels. You are now officially building with us. You can follow the realization of the depot daily on the website and of course you will be invited to be one of the first to visit.
1 Mirror panel € 1.000 eenmalig *
- An adoption certificate corresponding to your unique mirror panel;
- An invitation for 2 people to the Silver opening in 2020; the building is ready but does not yet contain art. An unique experience.
- One year free access to Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen.
Would you like to adopt multiple mirrors at the same time? You will receive extra privileges from 5 mirrors. Please contact Minke van Hooff (+31 (0)10-4419478 or firstname.lastname@example.org) or Elise van der Laan (=31 (0)10-4419684 or email@example.com). They are happy to tell you more about the possibilities.
* In the Netherlands, you can include the adoption of a mirror in your tax return as a one-off gift to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. The amount of the deduction depends on your income. If more than 1% (the threshold) of the income has been spent on charities, the part above is tax deductible, up to a maximum of 10% of your income. Multiple donations in one year to different ANBI institutions can be added together.
Museums worldwide only show an average of 8% of their collection. This also applies to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. The majority of our rich collection is stored in depots that are not open to the public. We want to break with this standard. With the opening of Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, everyone can soon enjoy 100% of our collection. The first and only publicly accessible art depot in the world.
Every visitor will soon be free to explore or hunt through the collection. You can roam around and determine your exploration yourself, in order to find works of art that appeal to you and stimulate you. You meet our experts and watch how works of art are restored, silverware is polished and masterpieces are packed for transport to exhibitions abroad. "Behind the scenes" is before the scenes.
