This depiction of the prophet Isaiah once formed part of a triptych in the cathedral of Aix en Provence in the south of France. The central panel still hangs there. The right hand panel is in the Musées Royaux des Beaux Arts de Belgique in Brussels. The still life with books was sawn off the top of this panel by an art dealer in the 19th century. The Rijksmuseum now owns the still life.
