Technology is often described as an extension of the human body. With the help of technology mankind has been able to see further, hear better and move faster. But what happens if you look for new possibilities within the human body or other living organisms rather than beyond? Designers are now researching how we can intervene in biological systems. Can we solve the future food shortage by adapting the human digestive system? Can we call upon our own blood as a source of energy? Can a flower be used as a light switch?
