Many artists and designers are astonished by nature’s inventiveness and efficient use of materials. The ‘model of nature’ not only leads to poetic reflection but also inspires innovation. For example, Gerrit van Bakel has designed self-propelling machines inspired by the differences in energy cycle during the sun’s daily cycle.
