Our environment is largely filled with objects that we have conceived and made ourselves. Gradually these objects have come to govern our behaviour. Now that energy and raw materials are becoming scarce, we have to ask ourselves whether we can survive without all these objects. Artists and designers take a critical look at this question and rethink the role that technology can play in our lives.
