Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s permanent collection is being shown in a totally new series of displays, curated by Carel Blotkamp, artist and emeritus professor of the history of art.
For the first time, the displays will alternate between old masters and modern art, taking a hop, skip
and jump through the collection and enabling a fresh take on art
history. Also new is the accent on art after 1945. The displays include familiar names
such as Mark Rothko and Andy Warhol and Piet Mondriaan and Pablo Picasso and Donald Judd and Paul Cézanne and Gispen and Salvador Dalí and Vincent van Gogh and Rembrandt.
The highlights in Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen this summer (24 June– 24 September 2017) will be exhibitions of work by international contemporary artists including Richard Serra, Zijlmans & Jongenelis, Gunnel Wåhlstrand and Raphael Hefti. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has traditionally provided a platform for trend-setting contemporary artists to make their work known to a broad Dutch public.
