Boijmans Suggests

Contemporary art only a stone’s throw away

At the same time as the exhibition in the Submarine Wharf, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is organising two exhibitions in the field of contemporary art with, among others, an installation by Oscar Tuazon. In the Gemeente Museum Den Haag there is also an exhibition on view with works by contemporary masters such as Tuazon, all from the collection of collector Bert Kreuk. His exhibition is called ‘Transforming the Known’ and is about the ‘American Dream’. Kreuk has lent several pieces such as ‘Baroque Egg’ by Jeff Koons to Boijmans, and together with Boijmans and the Gemeentemuseum, is looking forward to a summer with four beautiful contemporary art exhibitions that are just a stone’s throw away from each other.

There is also art to be seen on the north bank of the River Maas. Concurrently with Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s exhibition at the Submarine Wharf, AVL-Mundo (founded by artist Joep van Lieshout) is exhibiting ‘Territory’, with work by internationally renowned artists such as Kevin van Braak, Erik van Lieshout, Philippe Meste (FR) en Itziar Okariz (ES) in a monumental silo and the surrounding site. Also on display is work-in progress by Atelier Van Lieshout, including a blast furnace and a working metal foundry.
