from June 14 2008 until August 10 2008
Films, photographic works, installations (including cooperations with Jan Dietvorst).
The exhibition Detours by Roy Villevoye, which closed Sunday August 10th, was a great success. Nearly 20.000 people paid a visit to the exhibition, more than the museum ordinarily expects during this summer period.
The exhibition showed photographic works, films, installations, billboards, slide projections and paintings by Roy Villevoye (1960, Maastricht) and provided the first comprehensive view of his artistic practice since the late 1980s, when he turned away from painting and found inspiration on travels outside Europe. This context showed the scope of his body of work, with authenticity, cultural coding and our post-colonial heritage as central issues.
