Weefnetwerk is a nationwide organisation of weavers, which strives to promote and improve the craft of weaving. Weaving has been practiced all over the world for thousands of years. In addition to industrial textile manufacturers, there are many amateur and professional weavers who use a broad range of techniques and colourful threads to make contemporary designs. In the past weavers used a simple weaving frame or loom. Today they also use more complex or computer-driven looms.
‘Granny’s Finest’ allows seniors to practice their hobby – knitting - in groups and in collaboration with young designers. This results in an exchange of ideas and skills, in which the young and old learn from each other. This initiative offers a springboard for young creative talent and combats isolation among the elderly.
