Van Beuningen/Peterich Fund

With an artist as father and a collector, D.G. van Beuningen as grandfather, Peter Paul Peterich (1933-2000) was surrounded by art from a very early age. He studied art history and had a great affinity with poetry. In 1965, he founded together with his mother Flora van Beuningen, the Van Beuningen/Peterich Fund to support the visual arts and drawing in particular. Between 1965 and 1973, this fund was used, often on the advice of the curator at the time, to acquire around a hundred drawings for Museum Boijmans van Beuningen.

Peterich’s will in 2000 breathed new life into the fund and now the museum receives an annual bequest of several tens of thousands of euros with which to purchase contemporary art, mainly drawings. Acquisitions by this foundation are made at the request and initiative of the museum and become the property of the Boijmans Van Beuningen Foundation.
