From 23 August until 19 October, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will present Mirrored Years, an exhibition featuring works by the internationally acclaimed Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama (Matsumoto, 1929). The exhibition will display an extraordinary body of work in which films, sculptures and installations from the 1960s and 70s will be juxtaposed with some of the artist’s more recent pieces.
Kusama has designed a special installation for the purpose of this exhibition in which she will present 68 new paintings made over the last three years. The exhibition in the Bodonhall of the museum will demonstrate the coherence in Kusama’s oeuvre through the years as well as the refreshing and innovative themes in her current work. Her art has been a source of continual inspiration for many contemporary artists.
