Tanja Smeets’ installations combine everyday objects and materials with ceramics: stacks of mugs with ceramic outgrowths of bracket fungi and big bunches of Chinese spoons. Her work goes on show at the museum this coming weekend.
The Domestic Strangers installation by Tanja Smeets will be on show from 9 February, when her large, organic forms made of everyday materials will fill the four galleries of the museum’s Clover Leaf. A structure composed of thousands of plastic elements that are normally used for pouring concrete breaks out of the space and spills out into the museum.
The installation will be unveiled during the special evening opening from 20:00 to 22:00 on Friday, 8 February, when entrance to the museum is free. For a visit to ‘The Road to Van Eyck’ exhibition a surcharge of €4.00 applies. N.B. The museum is closed from 17:00 to 20:00!
