As Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen opens five exhibitions in the weekend of 10-12 February, art takes centre place elsewhere in the city.
The fairs Art Rotterdam and Object Rotterdam are taking place in the Cruise Terminal on the Wilhelminapier from 9 to 12 February. The first Raw Art Fair opens one day earlier on the other side of the Wilhelminapier, reached by a new bridge leading to Katendrecht. For one day only on 10 February, an installation by Filip Gilissen from Art Rotterdam’s VIP Programme will be displayed in the museum’s central courtyard. Gilissen previously made a project in Rotterdam’s city centre in which a crane lowered the text: ‘It’s All Downhill From Here On’.
On the evening of Friday 10 February we are teaming up again for the Art Afterparty. From 11.00 pm we will celebrate together with the many international visitors to the art fairs in the Rotterdamse Schouwburg. The Art Afterparty follows directly on from the openings in the museum. Upon presentation of a ticket from the museum you will receive a 3-euro discount on entry to the party.
Parallel to these openings, fairs and parties, the Re:Rotterdam Art Fair – a satellite of Art Rotterdam – is taking place at Boompjes 60-68. On the fifth floor the MK Award Foundation is organising the spectacular MK Award Fundraiser Show. For the first time ever, this exhibition brings together the work of nearly all the artists of the former MKgalerie in a single exhibition. A large proportion of the income from sales will go towards the MK Award Foundation.
