During the Rotterdam Museum Night on Friday 5 March the DVD box set with all thirteen episodes of the popular programme Boijmans TV will be launched.
Boijmans TV has been a big hit. The popular series was watched by no fewer than 1.5 million viewers in the Rijnmond region in 2010. From defying gravity with Wim T. Schippers to looking at paintings with Zwarte Piets and the anti-art statement of Antistrot. An extraordinary collection of unique television…
Due to the overwhelming success of the series, all thirteen episodes will be available in a unique DVD box set from 5 March. Specially for the launch there will be a marathon screening on a giant screen during Rotterdam Museum Night. Would you like to be there? You can buy a ticket at www.rotterdamsemuseumnacht.nl or from the museum’s ticket desk during regular opening hours.
Rutger Pontzen summed up Boijmans TV in his column in De Volkskrant (14 May 2010) as follows:
‘Each week we follow an invigilator, a guide and a museum technician (played by actors from Ro Theater) who interview artists and give guided tours to groups of bodybuilders, magicians and pole dancers in everyday language. The scenes are framed and edited into images of great beauty and simplicity. What a wonderfully clear idea. What a breath of fresh air to bring together such ‘old-fashioned’ media as film, theatre and a museum in the same production.’
