The programme for Friday 11 March has been put together by Jan C. Molenaar (1932), Professor Emeritus at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Jan Molenaar will act as moderator and has invited speakers to discuss the relationship between beauty and science. Biophysicist Ignace Hooge, astrophysicist Vincent Icke and bioscientist Gaël McGill talk about mankind’s ability to see the world, from the microcosm to the macrocosm. Science philosopher James McAllister and art historian and critic Janneke Wesseling consider the possible exchanges between art and science. Finally, physicist and president of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences Robbert Dijkgraaf will talks about the power of the imagination.
