Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen won the BankGiro Loterij Museum Prize 2010 and will be celebrating this on Friday, 11 February. The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) will have just drawn to a close, but the parties and cultural activities in the city are not over yet.
The Museum Prize party will be held in the museum on Friday, 11 February. From 20:00 to 23:00 the museum will be a whirl of festivities: you can dance and drink in the midst of the hubbub or in silence, exhibitions of work by Gabriel Lester and by Boris van Berkum will be officially opened, the new alma.boijmans.nl website will be launched in the Art Studio, and a performance will be staged in the courtyard.
The rest of Rotterdam will also be dominated by the theme of Art during this weekend. Besides the openings of the exhibitions in Boijmans, on the other side of the river you will find an amazing explosion of art and design. To start with there is the opening of the annual Art Rotterdam contemporary art fair at the Cruise Terminal on Thursday, 10 February. Just across the road in Las Palmas warehouse you can admire the latest trends in contemporary design at Object Rotterdam. On Friday evening the party starts at 8:00 p.m. in Boijmans and from 11:00 p.m. will continue at the Rotterdamse Schouwburg, where there is an after-party organised by Art Rotterdam for all art- and culture-loving revellers. And last but not least, on Saturday, 12 February you can attend the opening of the ‘Beauty in Science’ exhibition curated by Hans Galjaard at the museum. All in all, it promises to be a weekend that is not to be missed!
