Exhibitions of the works by Hella Jongerius and Johan Thorn Prikker open on Saturday 13 November. Hella Jongerius is internationally regarded as one of the most important designers of her generation. She believes that the quality of good design does not reside in perfect products but in the evidence of care and attention, in individual variations and ‘misfits’. In the Netherlands Thorn Prikker was best known as an Art Nouveau designer. He was a rebel, a moralist and a hard worker. This makes his eclectic oeuvre—paintings, drawings, prints, batik, furniture, monumental murals, mosaics and stained glass—surprising but not always easy.

Programme
1.30 p.m. Explanation of the work of Hella Jongerius by Rolf Fehlbaum (director of Vitra).
Followed by a presentation of a monograph to Hella Jongerius by Louise Schouwenberg (author and guest curator) and Irma Boom (designer).
2.30 p.m. Lecture on Johan Thorn Prikker by Mienke Simon Thomas and Christiane Heiser (exhibition curators).
Followed by presentation of the catalogue.
3.30 p.m. Official opening of the exhibitions by Sjarel Ex (director of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen)
Drinks until 5.00 p.m.

The official opening and drinks will be in the museum restaurant.
