Rotterdam Design Prize 2009

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is exhibiting the most important visions in current Dutch design. Ten nominees will be selected from more than 160 entries from designers, design studios, commissioners and intermediaries. Their names will be made known during the opening on 19 September 2009. An international panel of judges will choose the winner from among the nominees during the exhibition.

Rotterdam Design Prize 2009 displays projects and design motivations by ten leading designers or commissioners over the last two years. The exhibition shows how current social and cultural developments influence Dutch Design and highlights innovative products. Exhibition design by design studio Thonik.

National Prize
The Rotterdam Design Prize is a biannual national prize that highlights the qualities of Dutch design and stimulates the public debate about design. Since the previous edition the focus of the prize has shifted from the individual product to the vision of the designer.

International jury
The winner of the Rotterdam Design Prize 2009 will be selected during the exhibition by an international jury and will win a cash prize of 15,000 euros.
