From 8 February the museum is showing the work of three pioneers of modern art. The unique combination of more than 40 iconic sculptures and 100 photographs the artists took of their own sculptures offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse into these artists’ working methods.
All three artists experimented with the innovative possibilities of analogue photography. They transformed our understanding of their sculptures through dramatic lighting, novel camera angles and by manipulating the resulting prints. Famous works by each of these artists, many of which have never previously been exhibited in the Netherlands, are coming to Rotterdam from distinguished collections such as MoMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
