
PRESS RELEASE - Bruegel’s world-famous painting The Tower of Babel will be on show in the Louvre in Paris as part of the exhibition Babylon from 14 March until 2 June 2008. Because this 'Rotterdam' masterpiece is a key work within the exhibition, the museum has made an extraordinary exception in agreeing to lend this fragile work. The painting will soon be on display in the Parisian museum, which attracts 18,500 visitors per day. In exchange for this loan, the Louvre will lend several masterpieces to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen for it's major Erasmus exhibition in the autumn of 2008, including works that have never before been on show in the Netherlands. PRESS RELEASE - From February 16 until May 25, 2008, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will exhibit a special collection of colored, late-medieval sculptures. The collection will be donated to the museum by Rotterdam harbor entrepreneur Jacques Schoufour. The sculptures were made around 1500 in the Netherlands, France and Germany. They have been amazingly well preserved and the colors are still as expressive as five hundred years ago.
