Viktor & Rolf Gift from Han Nefkens
6 mei 2014

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has acquired ten outfits by Viktor & Rolf. The sculptural dresses, jackets and capes with asymmetrical protrusions are part of their acclaimed autumn/winter 2013 collection. The pieces, donated by patron Han Nefkens, have arrived in the museum and will be exhibited for the first time this autumn in the exhibition ‘The Future of Fashion is Now’.

The Future of Fashion
‘The Future of Fashion is Now’ will bring together designs by the latest generation of fashion designers with a fresh and critical look at the current fashion system and the value of clothes in our society. These designers have innovative ideas and work on the border between fashion and art. The exhibition, which opens in Rotterdam in October, will feature an international selection of more than fifty designers, from renowned fashion stars to emerging young talent.

The recently donated creations by Viktor & Rolf are an excellent example of the exhibition’s concept. The duo presented the collection last summer in a Zen garden and began the show with a minute-long meditation, a plea for a slower and more spiritual approach to fashion. Commentary on the fashion system plays an important part in the work of other designers in the exhibition.

‘The Future of Fashion is Now’ will be on view at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen from 11 October 2014 until 18 January 2015 and is an initiative of writer, art activist and patron Han Nefkens and fashion expert José Teunissen.
