Boijmans opens its doors on Boxing Day, with a special programme for everyone.

This year, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will also be open on Boxing Day, from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm. There is a lot to see and do in the museum during the Christmas holidays. Such as a dance performance by Dance Works Rotterdam/André Gingras next to the exhibition about boxer Cor Eversteijn and children’s workshops by Wolf Brinkman.
This year, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will also be opening its doors on Boxing Day Monday. There are special exhibitions in the museum, such as the retrospective exhibition of Marijke van Warmerdam ‘Close by in the distance’ and design exhibitions, such as ‘New Energy in Design and Art’ and the nominations for the ‘Rotterdam Design Prize 2011’. During the Christmas holidays, workshops, tours and other events will be taking place in the museum. See www.boijmans.nl for the complete programme.
During the Christmas holidays, artist Wolf Brinkman will be creating the ‘Energy Workplace’ in the Kunst Studio, specially for children between the ages of 6 and 12. The famous dance company Dance Works Rotterdam will also be paying a visit to the museum on Saturday 7 January. Boxing becomes dancing in the ‘Skipping Dance’ performances by choreographer André Gingras. On Sunday 8 January, the museum is organising a family day for the whole family in the context of the ‘New energy in design and art’ exhibition. Entries for the ‘Capture an image’ appeal can be seen during the Christmas holidays in the Kunst Studio. The participants were inspired by the work of Marijke van Warmerdam.
More information about this programme: www.boijmans.nl. During the holidays, the museum’s opening times will be slightly different. On Christmas Evening and New Year’s Eve, the museum will close at 4.00 pm. The museum is closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
