A Room for Two at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen
Experience an exclusive night in the Revolving Hotel Room
From 6 February 2010
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and artist Carsten Höller are offering visitors a unique opportunity to spend a night in the museum. Guests staying in the sculpture Revolving Hotel Room will have day and night access to the whole museum and will be able to relax in this extraordinary work of art. The Guggenheim Museum in New York exhibited the hotel room last year with great success.
Guests staying in the Revolving Hotel Room will be able to enjoy a night-time visit to highlights from Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s collection accompanied by a private butler. From 11 a.m. each day the hotel room once again becomes part of Carsten Höller’s Divided Divided exhibition and the hotel guests will find themselves surrounded by museum visitors. The hotel room is perfect for people who want to spend an unforgettable night in the museum.
Revolving Hotel Room
The Revolving Hotel Room consists of three revolving discs that carry a fully furnished hotel room. A wardrobe, a desk and chairs and a double bed share the discs. A fourth disc supports the other three, which revolve very slowly. Höller exhibited this hotel room previously in Kun¬st¬haus Bregenz in 2008 and in the Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2008-2009.
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will present this exclusive hotel room as part of Carsten Höller’s exhibition. He creates a new 1,500 m2 installation especially for the museum, on show from 6 February to 25 April 2010.
The Revolving Hotel Room is available for guests from 6 February to 25 April 2010. Naturally there’s a price to pay for this privilege. As you would expect, luxury facilities are included, such as room service, a well-stocked minibar, bathroom and toilet to ensure your comfortable stay in Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Rates vary from €275 to €450 per night (for two people, including dinner and breakfast). Reservations can be made from 4 January 2010 via: 0031 - 10 - 43.63.041 (Bilderberg Parkhotel Rotterdam).
The exhibition and hotel room are part of the official programme of Holland Art Cities 2009-2010 and have been made possible in part by the Goethe Institute Rotterdam, the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen e.V. (ifa), Bilderberg Parkhotel Rotterdam and Sikkens.
