The Announcement of the Winner of the Rotterdam Design Prize 2009

On Sunday 29 November the winner of the Rotterdam Design Prize 2009 will be announced by Peter van Ingen, chairman of the international panel of judges. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will host the festive prize-giving.
The winner of the Rotterdam Design Prize 2009 is chosen by an international panel of judges. The judges are Alice Rawsthorn (journalist with the International Herald Tribune and design critic, UK), Rick Poynor (writer and design critic, UK) and Patrizia Moroso (artistic awarded €15,000 to spend as they wish.
This year a public prize will be awarded in addition to the regular prize. Everyone can vote for it and leave their opinion on the website www.designprijs.nl. Until 29 November one can vote and decide which designer will win the public prize this year.
Lecture ‘The Next Promise of Design’
Premsela – Dutch Platform for Design and Fashion will be staging the lecture 'The Next Promise of Design'. This lecture and a discussion on the current state of affairs in design will take place at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen from 2.00 pm until 4.30 pm. Alice Rawsthorn will reflect on what is happening in contemporary design. In the discussion with two international designers, Clemens Weisshaar (Du) en Sylvain Willenz (Be), chaired by the design critic Gert Staal, she will be exploring where the new opportunities for the world of design lie.
You are cordially invited on Sunday 29 November to attend the lecture (2.00 - 4.30 pm) and the prize-giving (5.00 pm). Registration for the lecture is required as the number of places is limited. We also offer you the possibility for an interview with the winner of the Rotterdam Design Prize 2009. Please send your request for an interview well in advance.
